At line 21, Africa “ screams loudly and futile. ” The trope and onomatopoeia indicate that the Europe was devastated when people were taken from their country. Likewise, the texts “ she ” and “ her ” are reiterated throughout this poem. This Europe is treated as a female to empathic.
