Warriors Do not Cry retells the heart-wrenching 1st hand account of Melba Pattillo Beal’s. An African-American woman growing up in segregated 1950’s Small Rock, Arkansas. When first introduced to Melba, we see this young ignorant girl whose only query is addressed to God “When will we get our turn to be in charge?” (7).
